Baby swings are one of those items that are incredibly tricky to purchase before you have your baby. Every baby responds differently to motion. While some love to be rocked and swayed, others prefer gentler movement.

For this reason, the new Grownsy Baby Swing with dual motion (side to side and front to back) offers many features that can appeal to all babies. This product, which just came out last month, is quickly becoming one of the most popular baby swings on the market. We put the Grownsy Baby swing to the test to see if it’s worth the buy. Here’s what you need to know about buying this baby swing — from assembly to features to size considerations.

Assembling the Grownsy Baby Swing

I didn’t find the Grownsy Baby Swing instructions overly detailed. That said, it’s not impossible to figure out, though I’d recommend following along with a YouTube video if you are a visual learner. The product requires mulitple screws and bolts to be placed.

While it’s not difficult, it’s important to have someone else hold the product in place to ensure your screws go in straight. If they go in slanted, it could get stuck and make assembly a bit more difficult.

Compared to other swings I’ve assembled, I found the Grownsy Baby Swing assembly to be a bit more tedious; however, it still took less than 30 minutes, which shouldn’t be a big enough deal to deter you from purchasing this baby swing. It’s just something to keep in mind if you prefer super easy-to-assemble items.

Pros

  • Two color selections, both neutrals.
  • 15 included songs and sounds.
  • Remote control included.
  • Dual motion (side to side and back and forth).

Cons

  • Takes up a sizable amount of floor space.
  • Recently released so lacks long-term tried and true testing.
  • Only available online.

Advantages and Limitations

Many baby swings offer only side-to-side motion and no front-to-back motion. The dual-motion feature is one of the best features of this baby swing, along with the 270-degree rotation, Bluetooth sound capability, and included motion detection. I do wish it included more than one toy attachment besides the one hanging toy (or the ability to add/purchase additional ones), but for parents wanting a sure-fire win for their baby, the Grownsy Baby Swing is a smart choice.

If you live in a tight space or an apartment, I would recommend checking the dimensions of the Grownsy baby swing before you buy. The base is larger than I anticipated and not as easy to move around your house as some other baby swings I’ve tried, like the Jool Baby Nature Nova Swing. If you plan to leave it in one spot in your home, you may not really care about the product weight and size. But if you want a baby swing you can easily move between rooms in your home, this one certainly is not the most compact swing on the market.

In My Expert Opinion

Grownsy Baby Swing

Overall, the Grownsy Baby Swing has some great features that can make life easier for parents. The integrated music settings with 15 built-in calming sounds (including soft music and natural white noise settings) are very easy to change via the included remote. The ability to record your own voice (though it’s not something I would personally do) is a unique feature I can appreciate.

For me, the biggest limitation of this swing is how large it is. If floor space in your home is not an issue, you won’t find this baby swing to be a problem. For me, living in a townhome, I’d prefer it had a slightly smaller base. But the impressive features make it worthwhile; if you want a baby swing that does it all, you’ll love this product.

Between the adorable hanging rainbow toy and reclining positions, this swing certainly does more than some of the other baby swings I’ve seen. I do think the side-to-side motion (on level 5) seems stronger than other baby swings too, which could be ideal if you have a little one that prefers a stronger rocking motion.
